I saw something new in my inbox a few days ago. Gmail has gone out and changed things AGAIN! I wish they would just follow that old adage: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
After talking to someone at lunch today who also hates how Gmail has changed, I decided a simple tutorial was in order to help her and you change it if you want to.
I hated when they changed the post editor a few months ago. Fortunately, for now they are letting us change that.
When you go to compose an email, look down at the bottom at the bottom right and you will see a little triangle. Click on that and one of your choices will be “Temporarily switch back to old compose”.
Click that and you are back to the wonderful post editor we all know and love!
Now with the tabs in your inbox. They wouldn’t be too bad if we could make our own tabs and decide what mail we want to put in them. But Google in it’s infinite wisdom thinks they know what’s best for us and has pre-made tabs set up. And unfortunately they get it wrong with what mail to put into what tab more often than they get it right.
So to go back to the old email inbox, go to the little gear shift in the upper right hand corner and click it.
Then go to Configure Settings. Leave the primary setting alone but unclick the other tabs listed on the left of the box and click Save. That’s all there is to it!
